A section of the busy Gloucester to Stroud road will be completely closed this Saturday May 5 for essential works.
The A4173 will be shut between the village of Edge and Whaddon from 7am to 7pm.
Gigaclear will lay new ducting while the road is already dug up for repairs, to create essential rural broadband connections.
Fourteen new internet crossing points are being laid by Gigaclear on the route
During these works access will be managed for local residents and businesses.
Gigaclear is part of the Fastershire initiative which is bringing faster broadband to the county. Putting in these essential crossings and cables involves digging trenches across the road.
Businesses along the road such as the local pub, restaurant and farm shop will still be open as usual.
This project forms part of the county council's £150 million promise to upgrade Gloucestershire's roads. Highways teams are already four weeks into a six week resurfacing programme along the five mile stretch of road between Pitchcombe and Whaddon.
