Warning following theft from letter boxes in Gloucester

Police in Gloucester are asking residents to be vigilant following the theft of post from letter boxes in Highnam and Longlevens.

Over recent months there have been a number of incidents where post has been stolen and fraudulent bank accounts have subsequently been set up in the victim's names.

It is believed that two men, who were posting as leaflet droppers, have been arriving at locations in Mercedes saloon vehicles before forcing access to external letter boxes.

The reported incidents took place on Cheltenham Road between 3 and 9 September, Manor Park between 26 October and 8 November and Williams Orchard in Highnam earlier this year.

The first man is described as black, aged in his 20s to 40s, was wearing glasses, had a chin strap moustache with goatee, short facial hair and was of a slim, athletic build.

The second man is described as black, aged in his 30s to 40s, had short stubbly facial hair and is of a medium build.

They were both wearing baseball caps.

Both men had been working separately and were using different vehicles. Officers have gathered CCTV footage and enquiries are currently ongoing to identify the vehicles involved.
