Warning: Busy A-road to be resurfaced overnight
By Mark Owen | 30th August 2018
The A429 carriageway has reached the end of its life expectancy and needs to be resurfaced. The road will be closed from Thursday 13th September to Wednesday 19th September. To keep disruption to a minimum, work will take place during 7pm - 7am (excluding Saturday and Sunday nights).
Highways crews will be resurfacing over 8,548m² of road with approximately 1,100 tonnes of material.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "As part of our £150 million investment into Gloucestershire's roads, we are making long lasting improvements to this popular area as we know it's a vital route for many people. I'd like to thank road users in advance for bearing with us whilst the closure is in place."
What's the diversion route?
From the northern extents of the scheme continue along the A429 to Nortleach. At Northleach take the first exit at the roundabout and continue on the A40 in direction to Cheltenham. Follow the road to the junction with the A436 in Shipton Oliffe and take the left turn onto the A436. Stay on the road all the way to The Air Balloon roundabout then take the A417 to Cirencester. At Cirencester take the slip road towards Northleach then follow the signs to A429 Stow/Fossebridge/Northleach. The diversion is the same in reverse.
Gloucestershire County Council is investing £150 million into our roads, effectively doubling the resurfacing programme over the next four years, to help keep your county moving - our biggest ever investment.
