VIDEO: New pub for Gloucester

A former bar in Gloucester city centre has been turned into the city's newest pub.

Twenty-four-year-old Ryan Foster took on Angie's Bar in Bull Lane in October last year and at the start of July he converted it into The Drunken Duck, putting £20,000 into buying the business and refurbishing it.

"I had an ice cream van business but decided to sell up shop and wanted to take on a pub. I got talking to the previous landlord and he basically chose me to take it on and here we are today."

Ryan said that, along with a group of volunteers, he spent five frantic days converting the bar into the pub, working 16-hour shifts.

The pub boasts four real ale hand-pulls with arcade machines upstairs.

"We're trying to push the pub trade as far as we can, especially with the real ales and keeping that going," added Ryan.

"Business is fantastic. Gloucester is a great city with the Cathedral, the Quays, lots of events like the Tall Ships and music festivals across different venues. It's a nice place to be."
