VIDEO: Celebrity chef launches new menu at historic Cotswold hotel

Celebrity chef James Martin last night launched his exclusive menu at one of the Cotswolds most famous hotels.

The acclaimed chef showcased his menu to around 300 invited guests at a party at the historic Lygon Arms in Broadway.

And Punchline was there for the occasion at which tasters were offered for the Grill by James Martin, which goes live for bookings today (Thursday).

James Martin told guests: "There's no question that Broadway is a unique place and this amazing hotel is a unique place. I know the responsibility that comes with putting on a chef's jacket and walking in here only too well.

"What we are going for is great tasting food. As a farmer's lad and with a farming background, I know the importance of getting the best quality food from the whole of the UK. You've had a small taster of what's to come tonight.

"The menus are printed which go live tomorrow. It's just going to be four dishes, not 40. I'm trying to keep it simple but with super tasty food. Come in and have a bite, have a drink and get on with the rest of your day.

"I've been here on and off for three months. I said to the team the hard work starts tomorrow. This is going to be a pretty special place. Thank you for welcoming me into the club."

James will be introducing two exceptional new dining experiences at The Lygon Arms, alongside hosted dinners with fellow celebrity chefs.

Showcasing a specially curated menu of exemplary dishes by James inspired by local, artisanal and seasonal produce, the new menu is in keeping with The Lygon Arms ethos of serving traditional and authentic dishes in a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere.

Alongside new flavours to savour and explore, expect some of James' signature dish favourites, such as the fantastic dry-aged longhorn beef wellington.

James's venture at the Lygon follows six years of phenomenal success at sister hotel Chewton Glen, where James and his talented brigade of chefs continually develop stand-out menus at The Kitchen Restaurant & Cookery School.

Punchline editor Mark Owen, who was among the party guests last night, said: "There was just a great vibe to the place - great food and great service. It's one of the best hotels in the Cotswolds, if not the best.

"Over the years I've met celebrities right across the board, from sportspeople to politicians to celebrity chefs but I've never met someone who worked the room so hard as James Martin did last night.

"He was having his photograph taken all night long. He wasn't just having his photo taken with people, he spent a lot of time chatting to them."

Punchline has been delivering magazines to Broadway for about eight years.
