A 30-year-old Londoner whose dangerous driving in the Cotswolds left two people seriously injured has admitted that he had illegal levels of alcohol and cocaine in his blood at the time.
Samuel Mantey of Christopher Close, Southwark, London, indicated pleas of guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on April 7, to two charges of causing serious injury to Angela Watkiss and Norman Carter by driving dangerously in a Mercedes car on the A40 at Northleach, Gloucestershire, on September 12, 2021.
He also admitted having alcohol at between 98 and 230mgs in his blood (the legal limit being 80mgs) and having an excess level of benzoylecgonine (a metabolite of cocaine) in his blood on the same date.
The magistrates committed Mantey for sentence by a judge at Gloucester Crown Court on May 5.
They imposed an interim driving ban on him pending sentence.
