Travellers at Cirencester Leisure Centre car park

Travellers have arrived overnight at the Cirencester Leisure Centre car park.

Cotswold District Council officers have visited the site and have confirmed that they will be taking legal action if necessary to ensure the travellers vacate the car park as soon as possible.

The travellers have indicated that they may leave by tomorrow evening.

The police are aware and are monitoring the situation. Neither the police or Cotswold District Council have reason to believe the travellers will be hostile. Nevertheless, the Leisure Centre has recruited security staff to protect employees and the public using the facility.

Many of the car parking spaces are still available for use by the public.
