Top-notch gastro pub is sold
18th January 2018
A 16th century pub ranked eighth in the Morning Advertiser's Top 50 Gastropub list in 2017 has been sold off a guide price of £750,000.
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of The Butchers Arms in Eldersfield on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border.
The property sits on two acres of land with a paddock and outbuilding, overlooking beautiful countryside and the Malvern Hills.
The food-led pub has a serving bar, large fireplace, farmhouse table and chairs with 30 covers and a cosy dining room with a Clearview stove, oak floors, farmhouse tables and high back settles for approximately 15 covers.
The property also includes a three bedroom owner's accommodation and a detached self catering holiday cottage with one double bedroom.
Previous owners James and Elizabeth Winter bought the pub through Christie & Co in 2007 and are now looking forward to taking a year off with their family to travel the world in their vintage VW camper van.
New owners Mark and Jo-Anne Block have been living in London and purchased the pub looking for a lifestyle change. They commented: "We are very excited about this great opportunity and look forward to meeting everyone."
Mark has worked as a chef for the last 20 years in London, and was head chef at the Bluebird, King's Road for seven years and recently worked at the Grainstore King's Cross.
Nicholas Calfe, Director at Christie & Co's Bristol office who handled the sale said: "Mark and Jo-Anne want to continue the business at the Butchers Arms in the same direction as it is currently operating, maintaining the excellent standard of food and keeping the warm, homely feeling that the pub brings. We wish them the best of luck with their new venture.
"Good quality freehold pubs, particularly those with letting rooms or scope to add rooms have always been in demand, so fewer opportunities available in the market place have created competition amongst buyers, enabling our vendors to achieve maximum price."
