By Punchline reporter | 23rd June 2021
One of Gloucester's most popular sandwich shops is up for sale as the owners consider a change of lifestyle.
The Knobbly Cob café and takeaway in Westgate Street is on the market for £75,000.
David Reynolds and his partner Dan only bought the leasehold business a year ago but Covid has forced them to change their priorities.
David said: "It's a busy and successful business but we realised we wanted more to life than just working. The whole Covid thing forced us to set some new life goals."
The business has been established for 26 years and is popular for breakfast, coffees and lunchtime takeaways.
About 80% of the business is takeaways and the pair have built up the café's presence on delivery Apps like Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
For their first trading year they turned over £254,529 with a gross profit margin of £210,650 (83%). The rent is £15,000 a year.
There is seating outside, with six covers on the ground floor and 18 on the first floor.
David added: "We have been extremely lucky during Covid to increase the turnover and register a profit throughout the year at a time when a lot of companies are struggling.
"But for us the whole Covid situation has caused us to have a fresh look at things which is why we want to sell."
