Toolstation opens record number store

DIY shop Toolstation has hit a milestone, opening its 500th store. This is part of the company's expansion programme, which saw a new branch opened every week at the height of the pandemic last year.

It plans to keep up that pace this year, opening 60 stores by the end of 2021. This should lead to 450 more jobs being created by the end of the year. The DIY store company currently employs 5000 people in this country.

There are currently six Toolstations in the county, two in Gloucester, one in Cheltenham, one in Cinderford, one in Cirencester and one in Bourton-on-the-Water.

According to Retail Gazette, Toolstation managing director James MacKenzie commented: "To have grown so rapidly over the past few years is testament to both our colleagues and customers,"

"The opening of our 500th store is the latest milestone in our expansion plans and like all Toolstation stores it will benefit from Trade Credit and the launch of our app.

"The app will help make it easier for our customers to work smarter and quicker by ordering to their nearest site or home and manage their accounts from their pocket.

"At just the tap of a button, they will be able to check their credit accounts, pay balances and download their invoices, which means they can quickly wave goodbye to large amounts of paperwork."
