Tipper truck crash closes M5

The M5 has been closed both ways this morning after an incident forced traffic off the motorway.

The road has been shut near Cribbs Causeway since 8.40am, with latest advice suggesting a 60-minute traffic delay. As of midday, the M5 remains closed.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix confirmed the closure in both directions between Cribbs Causeway and the M49 junction.

Inrix said: "M5 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from J17 A4018 (Cribbs Causeway) to J18 M49. Cameras show traffic is being forced off the motorway in both directions."

Local reports suggest the collision involved a tipper truck colliding with an overhead gantry; no injuries are reported.
