Milestone School reaches fundraising target

The Chamwell Centre Charity has reached its fundraising target of £5.1 million needed to complete the building of the centre at The Milestone School.
The charity would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support over the past three years in helping them to raise funds and make The Chamwell Centre become a reality for the pupils of The Milestone School and the wider Gloucestershire community.
Construction work is progressing well, with contractors Speller Metcalfe confirming they are two weeks ahead of schedule, and the building will be watertight by Christmas.
The Chamwell Centre will open for The Milestone School pupils to use from Easter 2020 (when the pool and changing areas will be completed).
The rest of the centre, including soft play, rebound therapy, discovery zone and community café, will continue to be fitted out throughout early 2020, ready for opening to the public in summer 2020.
Dr Marie Owen, chair of The Chamwell Centre Charity, said: "To have reached our target of £5.1million to build The Chamwell Centre, ahead of schedule, is a great tribute to the generosity of our donors - local, national and international - bringing this state-of-the-art facility to Gloucestershire.
"School pupils with disabilities and older people in the community will be able to benefit from its fully accessible hydrotherapy pool, sports and leisure facilities following its opening in summer 2020."
