Tewkesbury teenagers arrested after sandbag smashes through windscreen of lorry on M5 motorway

Two teenage boys from the Tewkesbury area have been arrested in connection with an incident in which a sandbag was thrown at a lorry on the M5.

The driver of the Eddie Stobart lorry was fortunate to escape without injuries when the sandbag smashed through his windscreen at 11pm on Thursday, October 31.

The shocked driver, who was travelling southbound on the M5 near to junction 9 managed to steer his vehicle to safety.

Two boys, both aged 16 and from the Tewkesbury area were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to cause criminal damage and recklessly endanger life.

They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
