Tewkesbury taking part in Operation Switch

The Tewkesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team is taking part in the Operation Switch anti-burglary campaign as the evenings get darker.

The campaign will be running until Sunday 7 November and aims to encourage people to better protect their homes during the darker nights whilst reducing the level of anti-social behaviour that is committed.

Officers will be yet again targeting their patrols to areas that are known to have seen an increase in reports of burglaries and anti-social behaviour over recent years

The initiative will be paying extra attention to Halloween and Bonfire Night with officers taking part in enhanced patrols with colleagues from the Special Constabulary and Mounted Section.

The team will also be engaging with local communities by taking part in leaflet drops, identifying potential issues at an early stage, promoting crime prevention advice and conducting house to house and CCTV enquiries for reported burglaries.

Officers will be regularly tweeting during the campaign and anyone who wishes to view these can do so by visiting: https://twitter.com/TewksPolice

Acting Inspector Steve Benbow said: "Being burgled can have a devastating impact on victims and my team are dedicated to ensuring the residents of Tewkesbury are able to keep their homes safe.

"In previous years we've had great successes and I am hoping for the same again this year. We look forward to seeing you all out and about and welcome anyone who wishes to raise any questions or concerns they may have as we will be happy to help."

The campaign is being run across the county and police encourage the public to look at installing a 'WIDE' combination of security devices as they can provide 49 times more protection against residential burglary with entry compared to having no devices installed.
