Tewkesbury Means Business

Businesspeople in Tewkesbury will hear next week about exciting plans to support business across Tewkesbury borough and demonstrate the value of companies in the area to the wider economy of Gloucestershire.

The plans to support business in Tewkesbury borough will be outlined at a Tewkesbury Means Business breakfast event on Thursday 10th May at Tewkesbury Park Hotel. It is being organised by Tewkesbury Borough Council, Business West and Gloucestershire's Local Enterprise Partnership - GFirst LEP.

Key to the development of business services in the borough is setting up Tewkesbury Growth Hub, which will open in the autumn. It is a major development in GFirst LEP's extension of its network of Growth Hubs to encourage business expansion throughout the county.

Cllr Rob Bird, Tewkesbury Borough's lead member for economic development and promotion, said: "The new Growth Hub is a fantastic innovation which we hope will provide real help to those starting up in business and to those established companies who are looking for additional help and support.

"Our location is great for business, Tewkesbury borough area has brilliant transport links through the M5 corridor, the main line rail connection and a growing business airport. We aim to drive local business growth, which will provide economic benefits to the whole of Gloucestershire."

Sarah Danson, Growth Hub manager for GFirst LEP (pictured) said: "The plan to roll out the Growth Hub network to cover the county was part of the Strategic Economic Plan published by GFirst LEP back in March 2014.

"The Tewkesbury Growth Hub is the only one being run in partnership with the local authority and we are confident it will be a busy hub, offering support to business large and small."

Ian Mean, director of Business West for Gloucestershire, said: "Tewkesbury Borough is a great place to do business and is the fastest growing area in Gloucestershire.

"It has several industry leading companies like Moog, and with nearly half the new homes in Gloucestershire due to be built in Tewkesbury borough up to 2031, the area has the opportunity to become a real economic powerhouse."

The new Tewkesbury Growth Hub, currently being built at the council's Public Service Centre on Gloucester Road in Tewkesbury, will offer business services to around 4,000 companies located in the borough.

To register for Tewkesbury Means Business at Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Lincoln Green Lane, Tewkesbury GL20 7DN on Thursday 10 May (7.45-9.30am) go to Eventbrite .
