Models combine glamour with garbage at Costa Rica beach clean

Clothing brand Weird Fish has helped clean up a beach in Costa Rica while shooting a campaign there.
Models and make-up artists were part of a team of seven from the Tewkesbury-based retailer who scoured the shoreline in Santa Teresa.
The fashionable volunteers partnered with 5 Minute Foundation for the project, picking up rubbish from the sand. The non-profit organisation was founded in 2016 by Carolina Sevilla and encourages people to to take part in beach cleans where they live to help reduce plastic pollution.
Carolina said: "Around 100,000 animals die every year due to plastic in the ocean. "Brands like Weird Fish are genuinely committed to making a difference and appreciate how even the smallest of actions can help our natural environment in the long-term."
Weird Fish, which has a store in Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet, launched its The Only Way Is Ethics policy in 2019 aimed at being more eco-friendly.
Naomi Hedicker, brand communications manager at Weird Fish said they choose Costa Rica to shoot the summer campaign because it is a global leader in sustainability and ecotourism.
She added: "Beaches feature so heavily in our campaign imagery and as part of our commitment to sustainability, we wanted to give something back by helping to clean up the beach we were shooting on.
"The 5 Minute Foundation does fantastic work, so we were delighted to take part in one of their dedicated beach cleans. We don't claim to be 100% sustainable at Weird Fish, but believe we have a responsibility as a business to make changes and contributions to help combat climate change."
