Tewkesbury Borough Council to launch webcasting for meetings

Tewkesbury Borough Council is introducing webcasting for all council and committee meetings, starting with its Executive Committee meeting tomorrow (Wednesday, February 5) at 9.30am.

This initiative aligns with the core values of the borough's Council Plan, enhancing transparency, inclusivity, and accountability.

Webcasting allows residents and interested parties to watch live streams of meetings from the comfort of their homes, providing convenient online access to observe proceedings. This step is aimed at increasing community engagement and public awareness of the democratic process.

Meetings will be livestreamed with access to a live agenda, and on-screen speaker identification. Recorded meetings will also be available for future viewing, ensuring that the public can stay informed at their convenience.

Councillor Richard Stanley, Tewkesbury Borough Council Leader, said: "The council's commitment to a webcasting service builds on our priority to make our council more open, transparent and accessible.

"I'm pleased that our residents will be able to view council committee decisions being made about the borough from the comfort of their own homes.

"This will give our residents the opportunity to see how we make decisions on the things that matter to people, such as the delivery of services, the setting of council tax, planning decisions and many other matters."

The introduction of webcasting will provide the public with increased access to the council's proceedings and promoting a stronger, more inclusive Tewkesbury Borough community. This ensures that democracy is more accessible to all communities, including those who may have difficulty attending in-person meetings.

Residents can watch webcasts of Tewkesbury Borough Council's council and committee meetings via the council's website.
