Council appoints town centre regeneration experts

One of the UK's leading consultancy companies has been appointed by Tewkesbury Borough Council to look at the options for regenerating Tewkesbury town centre.
Mace has been appointed by the council to investigate the social, economic and sustainable growth of Tewkesbury, including a key site called Spring Gardens located adjacent to the high street. This role will involve carrying out a review of the current options for Spring Gardens, and investigating the wider town opportunities, while also considering how aspirations for the town's regeneration can be met.
Mace worked on a number of has a track record of large scale regeneration projects across the UK. These include the Olympic 2012 delivery partner for the regeneration of Stratford and the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street Station.
The Mace team working on this scheme has a track record of successful delivery for local authorities in the region, including Taunton Deane Borough Council, Bristol City Council and Cornwall Council.
Cllr Rob Bird, leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council, said: This is an exciting opportunity to maximise the potential of Tewkesbury town centre and unlock its growth opportunities. The development of Spring Gardens is a key priority for the council and we are very happy to announce the appointment of Mace, who have a long track record of successful delivery of projects like this."
