Thousands of pounds worth of Asian gold jewellery was stolen during a burglary in Cheltenham last week and police are appealing for information.

Unknown offenders forced entry to a property on Redthorne Way in Up Hatherley. They went on to search the house before leaving with around £10,000 worth of Asian gold jewellery.

The burglary is believed to have taken place at some point between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, October 25.

The stolen jewellery includes a matching gold necklace, bangles, ring and earrings set presented in a red case.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has been offered the items for sale to get in contact.

Additionally, officers would like to hear from anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which may help the investigation.

Information can be submitted by completing the online form and quoting incident 396 of October 25.

As the winter months approach and the nights get darker earlier officers would like to remind residents of the protective measures that can be taken to help ensure homes and outbuildings are as safe as possible.

Homeowners are advised to install a 'WIDE' combination of security devices to help protect your home, shed or garage from burglary as well as ensuring that back gates are secure.

A 'WIDE' combination includes:

• Window locks

• Indoor lights on timer switches

• Double door locks or deadbolts

• External lights on a sensor.
