Teenager arrested on suspicion of robbery

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after armed police responded to an incident at a shop in Whitminster yesterday (October 4).

Locals saw six police cars swoop on the village in the early afternoon following an emergency call.

Initially it appeared to witnesses that the Old Forge pub was the scene of the incident but it later emerged that the robbery was at the nearby shop.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said today "Shortly after 1.45pm yesterday (Sunday 4 October) we were alerted to an incident at a shop in Whitminster.

"Officers, including armed police, responded and temporary road closures were put in place while at the scene.

"A teenager was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and later released under investigation.

"No-one was physically injured in the incident."
