Teeing off for charity's 10th anniversary golf day

Keen golfers are preparing to take part in The Nelson Trust's 10th anniversary golf day at Minchinhampton Golf Club next week.

The popular annual event on the lovely Avening course on Friday, September 1st, has attracted a maximum 23 teams of four players with a waiting list already in place.

Registration will open from 8am with breakfast rolls supported by Lister Unified Communications ahead of a shotgun start at 9.30am.

The golf competition will be followed by a two-course meal with the prize-giving, raffle and auction.

Headline sponsors of the event are Cotswold Cheltenham BMW and Enterprise Rent a Car.

There's even an opportunity to win a new or nearly new BMW for a hole in one on the 6th.

Emma Griffiths, fundraising assistant at The Nelson Trust, said: "It's always a very popular event. We always have new people coming along. We've actually got a waiting list of four teams. Last year we raised £13,000."

Auction prizes include a framed and signed Gloucester Rugby shirt kindly donated by Gallaghers and two guests to the Bristol City v Coventry City game on Saturday October 21st at Ashton Gate stadium kindly donated by Bristol City.

There's also a two night stay at Tebay hotel up for grabs, kindly donated by Gloucester Services, and a PGA at Wentworth day pass, kindly donated by Cotswold Cheltenham BMW.
