Tackling terrorism in Gloucestershire
By Andrew Merrell | 27th April 2018
Counter terrorism training has been taking place in Gloucester City Centre all this week.
King's Walk Shopping Centre has been hosting Project Argus, delivered by Gloucestershire Constabulary Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit.
The simulation based awareness training course aims to raise awareness of how to react in the unlikely event of a terrorist attack.
An estimated 50 key stakeholders took part in the city centre courses organised by Tim Winterburn, operations manager at King's Walk Shopping Centre.
Mr Winterburn said: "This free training is vital for all key personnel working in locations whereby there will be large groups of people and in light of recent events, it was important to involve all key stakeholders within the city centre on this training."
The course was the next level of training after Project Griffin which was held at King's Walk in 2017.
People attending included security and cleaning teams from Eastgate and King's Walk shopping centres, Gloucester BID city protection officers, Marketing Gloucester and also tenants from King's Walk.
Project Argus focused on how to react and respond following a terrorist attack and how to report any suspicious activity that you may witness that could help prevent an attack.
Training has also taken place for the teams at Gloucester Quays.
If you think your business would benefit from these free training courses please contact Tim at King's Walk. If you ever witness any suspicious activity, the anti-terrorism hotline is 0800 789 321.
