Supporters walk 5,400km under stars for hospice charity

Dressed in flashing lights and head gear, 540 people walked 10k each under the stars through the streets of Cheltenham, walking between them an estimated 5,400km.

The route took them through the hospice itself, which driveway was softly lit by festoon lighting, with trees around the grounds coloured by soft mood lighting.

The walkers are well on their way to raising tens of thousands of pounds to help the hospice charity be there for local families when it matters, giving expert and compassionate palliative, neurological and bereavement support.

Elise Hoadley, Hospice Director at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice said: "This year's Starlight Hike really will be a night to remember for some time to come. It was a truly magnificent sight seeing so many people coming together to shine brightly in memory of loved ones in support of our care."

"The hospice took on a magical appearance being softly lit to welcome our walkers half way. We'd like to share our thanks with everyone who turned out to join us and would like to share our gratitude with all of our wonderful supporters, partners and volunteers who help make Starlight Hike such a huge highlight of our fundraising calendar each year."

"Put the date for next year's walk in your diaries now - Saturday 19th October 2019."
