Sudden closure of Cheltenham restaurant

A Cheltenham fine dining restaurant has closed its doors for the final time.

Family-run GL50 in Chester Walk in the town centre made the announcement on Facebook yesterday (August 23).

Jonas Lodge, owner and head chef, wrote on Facebook: "That's it! After three and a half years the going has gotten too tough.

"Me and Timea Lodge would like to thank every single guest who has come through the doors and let us look after them. We want to thank the staff past and present for making this place so amazing.

"Closing is sad but I'm very proud of what we achieved. Thank you, and good night."

The shock closure came just two weeks after the restaurant reopened following the owners' holiday.

GL50 had an average five star rating on Trip Advisor, with reviewers describing it as 'exceptional' and 'memorable'.
