Stroud business helps stock London's COVID-19 super hospital

Staff in London's high-profile intensive care coronavirus Nightingale Hospital have received an emergency supply of equipment from a Gloucestershire firm.
Staff at Stroud-based Platform-14, a leading supplier of pain management, interventional devices and radiation protection equipment pulled out all the stops to fulfil the call for help.
Those charged with ensuring the brand-new super hospital is kitted out called Steve Dechan's business and he was able to assist.
It is understood Nightingale, set up in London's ExCeL Centre near Royal Victoria Dock, has up to 5,000 beds for treating those struck down by Covid-19.
"We are supplying radiation personal protection equipment (PPE)," said Mr Dechan, managing director of the Bath Road business.
"It is to protect against X-ray radiation. We supply the worlds lightest of these. Made from Antimony and Bismuth. Think of lead aprons (but is antimony Bismuth) you may have seen radiographers wearing them if you every had a X- ray."
Although Mr Dechan did not want to make a big deal out of his company's efforts, which he reminded us paled rather when compared to the efforts of those on the front line in the health care system, we are determined to showcase efforts being made by county firms to contribute.
this is our stroud business with first delivery to Nightingale. Next is 7.5 T lorry. With massive ultra quick reply to need... v proud to help. But! Bitter sweet contract. Don’t want more business. Means more inflicted. 😩. Moral challenge.. @BBCGlos @Knibbsey pic.twitter.com/fcVMnARfmb

Platform-14 provided 200 of the specialist garments - pulling out all the stopes to make the order.
"We have had all (of the garments) made and material shipped from California colour coded and tested all within five days of receiving order. Huge effort by our team.
"However, that is nothing compared to the massive efforts of all NHS Healthcare staff. We are just delighted to support and be able to protect them."
