Brewery to raise a glass (or two) to £1 million expansion
By Andrew Merrell | 24th January 2019
One of the county's biggest breweries is gearing up to raise a glass or two to its new headquarters.
In only September last year the much-loved award-winning organic Stroud Brewery business saw work get underway on its new headquarters just a stone's throw from its current operation at Pheonix Works, Thrupp.
Its popularity was underlined by the successful crowd-funding campaigns run by the brewery to help complete the project.
Invites have now gone out for an official opening of the new brewery at the end of February, but those in the know will already be aware of perhaps the most important news - its on-site bar is already open.
The new Stroud Brewery Bar is now open! Our Beer Club members, lenders and newsletter subscribers enjoyed a sneak preview last night. Join us today from 3pm or Saturday from 12pm. Planning permission was granted for the ambitious new home in October last year with the firm first appealing for a site back in early 2017.
Speaking back in January 2017, when the brewery employed 15 staff, the managing director, Greg Pilley, revealed it was time to leave its Hope Mill Lane base as it looked towards future growth.
Design of the new brewery has been done by Nailsworth-based Austin Design Works and Clive Perch Architects of Winchcombe St, Cheltenham.
