Stroud-based food producer lands contract in the USA

A Gloucestershire food supplier is celebrating a perfect 30th birthday present - by making it in America.

Stroud-based Kitchen Garden Foods have won business with supermarkets and independents in the city of Houston, Texas.

It will see the Kitchen Garden labels appear on the shelves on the other side of the Atlantic to a host of Brit-loving Amercians who can't get enough of British food.

James Horwood, commercial director and joint owner of Kitchen Garden Foods, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be exporting our Cotswold brand to America.

"There is a real demand for British hand-made products in the states, and they were impressed with quality of our products and the prominent Cotswold heritage."

"They will be taking a range of jam, chutney and marmalade, as well our English mustard.

"We worked closely with the British Corner Shop based in Yate who are exporters of some of the most well-known UK brands, and also really like artisan, Cotswold producers like us."

Kitchen Garden foods was founded in 1989 and have grown in the years since to supply more than 500 different outlets across the UK and overseas.

They now employ around 20 staff at their site on the Salmon Springs Trading Estate off the A46 on the outskirts of Stroud.

All of their products are made by hand, in small batches, using natural ingredients with many being handed down by generations of Gloucestershire cooks.

Mr Horwood added: ""Barbara Moinet founded Kitchen Garden exactly 30 years ago using traditional recipes handed down through the generations and it's those same recipes we use today.

It's been more than two years since Barbara passed away, and it was always her vision to see Kitchen Garden travel as far as it could. I

"know she would be really pleased with this deal, and on our 30th birthday, we couldn't be happier!"

The products will be landing in the USA mid-October and distributed out to stores after that.
