Strong summer ahead for Homebase

DIY retailer, Homebase, has predicted a strong summer, after its best trading weekend since Easter 2022.

Over the bank holiday weekend, Homebase, which has stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud, sold more than 4m plants, up 20% on last year.

Shoppers picked up over 22,000 barbecues and sales in storage increased by 12%, as customers spring cleaned their homes, as reported by Retail Gazette.

A wet March and the cost-of-living crisis meant a slow start to the peak spring trading season across the DIY sector, but the warmer weather boosted bank holiday sales.

The retailer also saw a 6% rise in kitchen and bathroom sales, giving it confidence for a strong summer ahead.
