Step back in time this Saturday for Gloucester Goes Retro

The streets of Gloucester city centre will be transformed this Saturday (25th August), with cars, music, and culture from the 20th century.

The Gate streets will exhibit cars from different eras, including vehicles by Aston Martin, Jensen, Bentley, Jaguar, Triumph, Morris and Alvis. Westgate Street will host the 1900s to 1949, featuring cars from the turn of the last century through to the war years, and the Roaring Twenties. Rock around the clock on Northgate Street, with vehicles from the decade that gave us rock n' roll. On Eastgate Street you will find motors from the heady days of the Swinging Sixties and Southgate Street will be taking us from the groovy 70s right up to the present day.

In King's Square, you can enjoy vintage entertainment and dancing throughout the day, from acts such as Betsy Harmony, performing vintage favourites from a bygone era including swing, jazz, blues, rock 'n' roll, wartime and music hall.

Cast members from the classic comedy show 'Allo 'Allo (pictured below) will be attending the event and encouraging fans to have a chat or grab a picture. There will also be a number of other characters from television and film making their way around the city centre, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Several awards are up for grabs this year. The Best Dressed competitions will be returning and the organisers encourage you to dress up in your best vintage garb, with a number of different categories to enter. New for this year are photography awards for any keen photographers attending this year's event.

Gloucester Goes Retro is sponsored by Pro Global, and organised by Gloucester City Council, Marketing Gloucester and supported by Gloucester BID.
