Starbucks plans Stroud coffee shop

Five Valley's Shopping centre has applied for planning permission to change the use of former Poundland and Woolworths shop on King Street to takeaway and restaurant use.

Plans also specify the addition of an outdoor seating area, planters, exterior umbrellas and Starbucks signage, hinting that the coffee brand could soon join other retailers in Stroud town centre.

A planning statement said: "The layout of the unit would be altered to best suit a coffee shop setting and so that the kitchen and behind of the house area works seamlessly.

"We intend to enhance the appearance of the building to bring the store in line with the current Starbucks Specification."

The new Starbucks site would sit next to the new Five Valley's health centre as well as MP Siobhan Baillie's office.

It is not clear on the expected opening times for the shop, or how many jobs it will bring to the area.
