Stagecoach West raising some ticket prices

Bus operator to make some changes to ticket prices across network from Sunday, June 23.

Stagecoach West has taken the 'difficult decision' to raise some of its ticket prices amid rising costs.

The operator says that as running and operational costs have continued to rise across the industry, it has worked hard to keep ticket prices affordable for customers, with lots of ticket prices frozen.

However, the firm has taken the difficult decision to raise some of its ticket prices. Single and return fares on local services will remain unchanged. However other on-bus tickets have increased slightly, so passengers are recommended to check online for new prices before they travel.

Single and return fares remain unchanged and Stagecoach West continues to participate in the national fare cap scheme, meaning a single journey will never cost more than £2.

The ever-popular Flexi5 ticket price has been frozen and Day and 7-Day tickets are still cheaper when bought on the Stagecoach app, with most tickets remaining the same price as before.

The operator says Group Day tickets will represent even better value for money as the party number increases to five people travelling together, rather than four.

28-Day MegaRider tickets will no longer be available to purchase from June 23. However, regular travellers can still save by signing up to the MegaRider Xtra ticket

In good news for students and under 19-year-olds, StudentRider Academic Year tickets and new Term Tickets go on sale from August 1. Early Bird reduced ticket prices will be available on the new Academic Year tickets until August 31 with significant savings available.

Chris Hanson, managing director, Stagecoach West, said: "Following an extensive review of running and operational costs we are delighted to be in the position to freeze the majority of our fares once again, with only a small number of increases from June 23, 2024.

"We work hard to keep costs as low as possible across our network, to ensure bus travel remains great value for money and the best, sustainable option to travel for our customers."
