Staff at a Gloucester NHS Surgery bowled over by a true heartfelt gesture

The nation came together last night to applaud the heroes working in the NHS during the Coronavirus Crisis.

But before the country stopped for the 8pm 'Clap for Carers' initiative, a doctor's surgery in Gloucestershire received a heartfelt message of praise of their own.

When the staff arrived at Brockworth Surgery in Gloucester yesterday morning, they were presented with a heart-shaped flower arrangement on the grass in front of the surgery.

Practice Manager, Teresa Hinder said that the small touch by a kind and anonymous stranger had lifted spirits of everyone working hard at the practice.

"This has made our day, week, month," she said.

"I am the Practice Manager of the most amazing team of doctors, nurses and administration staff who have in the past few weeks worked tirelessly with our local CCG Primary Care Team to continue to deliver services for our local communities.

"It has certainly be a tough rollercoaster ride, we think it was our local Parish Council that have done this for us.

"They have shown us amazing respect and support, and been in daily contact checking if we need anything."

Like surgeries up and down the country, the team at Brockworth have been working especially hard given the new circumstances.

Lister Unified Communications came to their aid last week, installing new phonelines to ensure that more people were able to access the information they need.

"We have put various different systems in place over the past few weeks," Teresa said.

"All patients are being triaged, we have setup 2 clinical clean, isolation rooms, set up a new prescription ordering line and email address helped by Lister Unified Communication.

"We have also coped with staff illness and staff in self-isolation - I have been one of them, managing the surgery from home.

"The gesture, means so much to us.

"Please everyone listen to what everyone is saying and stay inside and stay well, so we can save our NHS and each other."
