JD Sports has reported record results, with a 19 per cent boost in pre-tax profits.
While many UK retailers have struggled during 2018, in the week 26 weeks to 4th August, the sports footwear and clothing retailer saw like-for-like sales up by three per cent, as reported by Retail Gazette.
JD Sports, which has a store in Gloucester, is continuing to expand into emerging markets, with an increase of 18 stores in mainland Europe and 21 in Asia Pacific, including its first stores in South Korea and Singapore.
Peter Cowgill, the company's executive chairman, said the company has remained profitable and resilient in the UK, with the capacity for continued growth in international markets. He went on to say that the recent positive results reflect the investment the company has made in recent years, bringing together online retail and physical stores.
