Sofa Workshop goes into administration

Sofa Workshop has gone into administration, blaming supply chain disruption.

The company had 16 stores across the UK, including one in Bristol, and also operated online, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Administrators said that Covid-related supply chain disruption and big increases in transport costs on importing goods from Asia over the last year meant Sofa Workshop had been unable to meet payments.

No viable offers were received to take over the business, so it was forced to appoint administrators.

It means 77 staff were made redundant and all but one store was closed immediately. The Tottenham Court Road store will sell off remaining stock over the next few days.

Administrators said that all customers will still receive their outstanding orders.
