Smoother welcome to Gloucester shopping destination
2nd October 2017
Shoppers at Gloucester's Eastern Avenue Retail Park will soon have a less bumpy arrival thanks to resurfacing work at the entrance.
So that the work can go ahead, the Eastern Avenue Retail Park car park will close at 5pm on Sunday 29th October and re-open again by 8am on Wednesday 1st November.
Nearby parking will be available throughout the work: customers will be signposted to park in the next door retail park (108 Retail Park) where Farm Foods and Maplin are based.
Contractor Amey will be working long night shifts to minimise disruption during the day and make sure work is completed as quickly as possible.
Access will be maintained off Eastern Avenue using the usual slip road during the day but this will be closed each evening when work is underway, reopening by 7am each morning.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said: "We are investing to improve local roads. This section outside Eastern Avenue retail park is in need of resurfacing, so the work will make sure access to the park is improved and make life easier for everyone visiting the area."
Cllr Kate Haigh, local member for Coney Hill and Matson, said: "I am pleased to see access to this important retail centre in Coney Hill is being improved and hope shoppers will benefit from fewer bumps."
