Six years for drug dealer

Notorious Gloucester drug dealer, Gary Waugh, has been jailed for six years at the city crown court.

Grandad Waugh, 51, of Orchard Hotel, Olympus Business Park, Quedgeley, was sentenced yesterday for possession of cocaine with intent to supply on Sepember 18th last year.

Prosecuting barrister Janine Wood told the court "Police went to where Mr Waugh was staying with his mother in Station Road, Gloucester to arrest him for an unrelated matter.

"They shouted through the letterbox to him and saw him run into another room.

"They forced entry and went to the back of the property and then into the garden, where they found him in a neighbour's house."

Waugh was searched and £1,280 worth of cocaine, along with an iPhone containing drug-related messages was found, said Mrs Wood.

"The cocaine was of a high purity - too high for personal use - and consistent for being cut and sold," said the barrister.

"The defendant played a significant role in dealing and has 48 previous convictions for 151 offences, many of them drug-related."

Recorder Rose Collins told Waugh: "You have a terrible record and this is your fourth drug supply offence in 20 years. You have spent many years in prison.

"It is about time that you, at your age, learnt your lesson and made something of your life."
