Six-year-old Kira steps out for Cobalt

A local charity has been bowled over by a six-year-old Cheltenham girl's act of kindness.

Pint-sized Kira Wray completed a 10-mile walk around the Forest of Dean on Sunday to help raise money for Cheltenham-based charity Cobalt.

Kira, a pupil at Charlton Kings Infant School, said: "At school we recently spoke about acts of kindness and how it is important to think of others before yourself.

"I decided I wanted to do a walk so the charity can continue the fantastic work they do."

Kira's mum Zoe Wray works as a radiographer at the Cobalt unit.

Julia Jenkins, head of fundraising, said "Cobalt is a local charity that helps people affected by cancer, dementia and other conditions through using the latest scanning equipment and technology.

"We are delighted by Kira's support. She has already raised over £150 which is fantastic.

"We are currently raising money to buy a new MRI scanner for our imaging centre in Cheltenham so the money Kira raises will be well spent.

"As well as diagnostic imaging for over 65,000 patients, we provide research, training and education for medical professionals to learn more about the latest techniques and advancements and to share knowledge and best practice, improving care for patients."
