Show your Pride at Cheltenham Science Festival

Pride in Gloucestershire and Cheltenham Festivals have announced a new collaboration for Pride Month and Cheltenham Science Festival which runs from June 7 - 12.

In a mission to make science and cyber a safe and inclusive space for all, Cheltenham Festivals has announced a new collaboration with Pride in Gloucestershire to help connect with the LGBT+ community.

As well as LGBT+ flags being prominently on display, trustees from Pride in Gloucestershire, Anya McKenna and Samantha Neath will be at The Arcade, a new space at the Cheltenham Science Festival, celebrating all things cyber on Friday 10 June from 6pm - 10pm to offer support and guidance to visitors.

Anya McKenna, trustee and communications director for Pride in Gloucestershire, said: "This marks a pivotal moment, as Pride in Gloucestershire and Cheltenham Festivals embark on their journey together.

"Whilst we've come a long way over the past 50 years, with 2022 marking the 50th year of Pride in the UK, visibility for the LGBT+ members is still very much needed.

"On behalf of Pride in Gloucestershire, we'd like to say a huge thank you to Cheltenham Festivals for their support."

Dr Marieke Navin, the Science Festival's head of programming, added: "Cheltenham Festivals is passionate about demonstrating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy and learn about science and culture in general in line with all 4 of our annual festivals and learning and participation programmes.

"We are excited to work with Pride in Gloucestershire this year on site at Cheltenham Science Festival to deepen our work with the LGBTQ+ communities both locally and nationally."
