Shop is a first for Cotswold Riding for the Disabled

Cotswold Riding for the Disabled has announced the opening of its first shop at 35 High Street, Tewkesbury.

Not only is this a first for them but is also the first Riding for the Disabled high street shop anywhere in the UK.

This shop will complement Cotswold RDA's other shop which is housed in Longlevens Co-operative community space.

Lesley Gorton, general manager of Cotswold RDA, said: "We are enormously grateful to Midcounties Co-operative for working with us in this unique collaboration.

"Our shop will be an Aladdin's cave of pre-loved clothing especially Country and Equestrian wear. Pre-loved clothing is sustainable, environmentally-friendly fashion. Why not challenge friends and

family to a 'second-hand' Santa Christmas!"

The grand opening will take place at 11am on Saturday 4th December and will be conducted by Edward Gillespie OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.

Lesleuy added: "We would be happy to accept donations at the shop, prior to the opening date. Just knock on the door or ring the bell at the rear of the shop (down the alley at the side).

"We are also looking for volunteers to help us run the shop. Just a few hours a week would make a huge difference to us, either working in the shop or in the preparation area. Details are available from the shop team on 07949 115080.

"Cotswold Riding for the Disabled is so much more than a riding school. We have created a community of people who come together to ride ponies, or to enable others to ride.

"We know that contact with ponies offers excellent therapy to both young and old, living with any kind of disability. We can see and measure the benefits to those who ride with us, both in terms of physical and mental health and well-being. Not to mention the FUN!"

Join Cotswold RDA as a member and enjoy many member benefits. You can sponsor a pony and give the gift of riding to a disabled adult or child. Visit the website: www.cotswoldrda.org.uk  for further details.
