Shoe Zone finds right fit for top role

The boot is officially on the other foot for Shoe Zone after the retailer announced its new financial director.

Terry Boot has taken on the role with immediate effect - replacing Peter Foot.

The announcement comes as the retailer, which has shops in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud, reported a post-tax loss of £14.6million in the year to October 3.

Shop closures during the pandemic sparked a 24.3 per cent in sales £122.6million.

Chief executive Anthony Smith said he did not expect profits to return to pre-pandemic level until next year at the earliest.

He said: "The financial pressure caused by Covid-19 has meant we now have debt on the balance sheet for the first time in more than 15 years.

"Despite this, there are positives such as the continued growth of digital and the commitment and focus of our loyal employees."
