A nightclub in Gloucester has announced its closure with immediate effect.

Club Urban in Eastgate Street, which described itself as 'the home of R&B and Afrobeat' posted the news on Facebook.

It said: "It's with a heavy heart we have to announce the closing of Club Urban. With the current economical conditions it is very difficult to sustain a nightclub so we have come to the conclusion of permanent closure.

"It has been an amazing time we have shared with all our customer & staff and would like to say a massive thank you to everyone.

"We are closing with immediate effect."
