Shining example of Gloucester’s regeneration
14th September 2017
No, it's not a pile of gold bars but the stunning new architecture taking shape in Gloucester. Do you know where it is?
This gleaming new facia on the skyline of Gloucester is certainly grabbing the attention of people walking by.
The former police station building on the corner of Bearland and Barbican Road has been given a stylish makeover as part of a £4.13 million scheme with eye catching gold coloured rectangular cladding sections that glisten in the sunlight.
The vast majority of the space at Bearlands will now be used by county council staff although the police are committed to keeping a reception facility and deployment base for staff to patrol the city.
To the rear of the building next to the former prison the old magistrates court has been replaced with a smart new building to create a new adults and children's services hub.
