Secretary for Gloucestershire law firm takes to the sky for charity

Lily Willcocks, a secretary in the personal injury department at Thomson & Bancks Solicitors in Cheltenham, will be taking part in a skydive on Sunday (24th February) to raise money for local medical charity, Cobalt.

Along with her two brothers, Ollie and Joe, Lily will be jumping from a plane at 15,000 feet, in support of the charity's Gloucestershire Breast Cancer Equipment Appeal.

The leap of faith takes place at Old Sarum Park, Salisbury at 9am, with lots of family and friends cheering on from the ground.

Lily said: "I had been thinking about doing a skydive for a while, but it was finding out about Cobalt and the incredible new machine they were fundraising for, which inspired me to just bite the bullet and book the skydive. I then convinced two of my brothers to jump with me, which has definitely made the prospect of the challenge less daunting!"

Kirsty Bradbury, fundraising engagement officer, Cobalt said: "We are so excited about the skydive. The funds raised from this amazing challenge will go towards new equipment for the Thirlestaine breast centre and benefit thousands of local people."

Set to be the first of its kind in Gloucestershire, the 3D mammography equipment will provide clearer 3D pictures of the whole breast, similar to a hologram. It has a curved compression surface, making testing more comfortable for women, while also providing the chance of a more accurate diagnosis of early breast cancer. It's hoped that the introduction of this revolutionary machine will help to reduce the number of deaths from breast cancer.
