Sales rise for bed retailer

Bensons for Beds has reported an increase in sales for the final quarter of 2022.

The retailer, which has a store in Gloucester, saw like-for-like sales in the three months to December 31 rise by 7% compared to the same period in 2021.

Bensons for Beds, which rescued Eve Sleep from administration in October, attributed the strong sales to investments in both its digital platforms and stores.

Online sales increased 41% and digital purchases have doubled since before the pandemic, thanks to improvements in the digital infrastructure. They were further boosted by the acquisition and relaunch of Eve Sleep.

Footfall in stores was weaker during the period, but store sales increased due to higher transaction values.
