Sales rise at Travis Perkins, but stall at Wickes

Builders' merchant, Travis Perkins, has posted a 3.9 per cent rise in sales for the third quarter, despite pricing pressure on its Wickes brand.
In the 12 weeks to 30th September, like-for-like sales at the company, which has branches across Gloucesterhshire, rose 4.1 per cent, as reported by Retail Gazette.
Growth was partially offset by a 4.2 per cent decline at Wickes, which has branches in Cirencester, Cheltenham and Gloucester.
Wickes reported a 1.8 per cent drop in sales in the third quarter, bringing down Travis Perkins' 3.9 per cent total. The company said that the UK DIY market continues to be challenging for Wickes, with significant price pressure and weak consumer confidence.
Despite this, Travis Perkins remains confidence that its full-year performance will be in line with market expectations.
