Safran renews partnership with Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines and Safran Landing Systems, which has a base in Gloucester, have renewed their long-term agreement for the supply and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) of wheels and carbon brakes for the American carrier's Airbus A320 fleet.

This contract covers both the Airbus A320ceo and A320neo in service and more to be delivered in the future.

The renewal of this agreement contributes to Spirit Airlines' commitment to providing robust, reliable operations and affordable travel options throughout the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Manufacturing will be carried out by Safran Landing Systems plant in Walton, Kentucky, which employs 400 highly qualified employees. This contract also includes comprehensive and responsive maintenance services through Safran Landing Systems Wheels & Brakes Services network in Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Texas and Nevada.

Jean-Michel Hillion, executive vice president of the wheels & brakes division at Safran Landing Systems, said: "We are thrilled to pursue our 20-year partnership with Spirit Airlines and support their A320 fleet with our industry-leading wheel and brake solutions.

"This marks a significant milestone in our common journey, based on mutual trust as well as shared values for safety, performance, reliability and reducing the impact of air transport on the environment. Four commitments that drive our teams and guide our daily research and technology work."

Boris Rogoff, senior vice president of tech ops and supply chain at Spirit Airlines, said: "We truly value our long-term partnership with Safran Landing Systems, which is key to our commitment to run a strong operation and deliver a positive and reliable experience for our guests.

"Their cutting-edge technology and expertise in wheels and brakes are pivotal contributors to our operational performance and safety standards, and we look forward to continuing our partnership."

Safran Landing Systems' brake designed for the Airbus A320 family provides airlines with unequalled performance and an ever long service life, thanks to cutting-edge carbon and anti-oxidation coatings. It also offers significant environmental benefits with their minimal weight, contributing to reducing the operators' fuel consumption.

Safran Landing Systems is the world leader on the A320 wheels and carbon brakes market, equipping more than 70% of the A320-family fleet worldwide, 5,100 aircraft.
