New restaurant to open at Gloucester Food Dock

The Food Dock Gloucester is set to welcome its newest business to the independent food and drink neighbourhood in the New Year.

Roots + Seeds Café & Kitchen, who already have a restaurant at Cirencester Park, will be taking the last quayside space with a large interior and outdoor seating and views over Gloucester Docks.

Creating a welcome for everyone in the family including dogs, they will be serving up coffee, breakfast, brunch and lunch daily and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Head chef Sam Idoine creates menus of modern British dishes with French influences using locally sourced produce from trusted suppliers and growers within a 25-mile radius of Gloucester, including Roots + Seeds very own garden.

Menus will change regularly and include both daytime and evening menus including a 'specials board' of delicious 'field to fork' dishes dictated by the seasons and what's best on the day to showcase local artisan produce.

Co -founders Toby Baggott and Sam Lawson-King are passionate about using fresh, locally sourced produce.

All food will be freshly made to order and will include locally reared beef, lamb, pork, poultry and game from the Bathurst Estate with fresh fish and seafood delivered daily from Brixham as well as locally foraged ingredients such as wild garlic, nettles, dandelions, wild edible flowers, blackberries and woodland mushrooms, when available.

Daytime menus include classic brunch options, sandwiches, salads, flatbreads and dips alongside more substantial dishes such as burgers and pasta dishes.

Sam said: "Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available on every course and all dietary requirements are catered for. The children's menu features both healthy options and perennial favourites."

Food Dock co-founder Ken Elliott said: "This is a fantastic space and we are delighted to have Roots + Seeds Café & Kitchen making it their own.

"As well as an exciting all day menu they will bring a fresh take out offer for lunchtimes. It is wonderful to have another independent business to add their personality to the Food Dock mix."

Creating a modern industrial vibe light, airy space with an open kitchen and full height windows, Roots + Seeds Café & Kitchen Gloucester will also offer a full bar with award-winning King Stone gin, made by co-founder Sam Lawson-King. It will also feature cocktails muddled with homemade shrubs, cordials and mixers alongside a selection of wines curated by local wine company Talking Wines.

Roots + Seeds co-founder Toby Baggott said: "We are just so excited to be able to open our second restaurant at Gloucester Food Dock. Not only is this area a successful hub known for its superb independent food outlets, but is also a wonderful and historic location with fantastic views over Victoria Basin."
