Road works to begin next week on major Cheltenham commuter route

Gloucestershire County Council highways crews will be starting off their busy resurfacing programme in Cheltenham next week.

One of the first roads they will resurface is Princess Elizabeth Way on 8th and 9th January 2019. A stretch of the key road through the west of Cheltenham will be resurfaced 7pm - 7am over night for two nights in the second week of January 2019.

Part of the road between the Benhall roundabout and Shelley Road needs a new surface, and the entrance to the college will not be affected.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said, "Highways crews have been busy over the last few months to deliver an ambitious programme of works and I hope people are starting to see improvements as they drive around the network.

"We are pleased to be spending the first week of our 2019 programme in Cheltenham, and would like to thank commuters and residents for their patience."

Work start and finish dates may have to change at short notice due to winter factors such as heavy rain, changes in temperatures and other weather events. All updates will be available on www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/resurfacing or social media @GlosRoads and GloucestershireRoads.
