Road in Stroud to close for resurfacing

Springfield Road in Uplands, Stroud, will soon be benefiting from a brand new surface thanks to Gloucestershire County Council's highways team.
The work will take place between Monday 7 December and Friday 11 December from 7am to 7pm, while highways crews replace the surface.
Gloucestershire County Council said an official diversion route will be in place, which will be signposted and is suitable for all vehicles that would normally use the road.
Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "We are committed to improving the highways network across the county as part of our £150 million investment. I understand the work will be inconvenient, but it is essential to create smoother journeys and ensure our roads are safe."
Councillor Brian Oosthuysen, county councillor for Rodborough, said: "I'm very pleased this work to replace the road surface is going ahead. I would like to thank local residents and all road users for their patience while the work is carried out."
They add that social distancing measures will be in place to help ensure highways crews are safe at all times.
