Powerful business association appoints new chairman – with familiar name

A new era has begun at the most powerful body representing Gloucestershire's haulage firms - with a name familiar to the old guard.

Those who have been around the industry body in the county and the wider region will know the name Cullimore, as its trademark green trucks will be familiar to many other road users.

But the name now sitting next to the title of chairman for the Road Haulage Association Gloucestershire is a new generation from the family business.

Moreton Cullimore, who just to confuse matters has the same first name as his grandfather who started the 90-year-old business, is following in the footsteps of his father by taking on the new role.

"I sit too on the larger regional council now also and am equally trying to push this large organisation into new modern ways in which its members actually start to see real benefits of being a member of such an association.

"There is somewhat of a romantic 'history repeating itself' here as I'm sure at roughly the same age my Father did similar many years ago," said Moreton, who revealed the appointment on Linkedin with both surprise and gratitude to fellow members.

His appointment can be seen as a new era for the Gloucestershire body which has been trying for some time to draw in Mr Cullimore who has been busy using his influence to encourage new members into the fold.

The Cullimore Group celebrated 90 years in business in 2017 and now provides communities and businesses within Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Avon and Somerset.

It supplies aggregate, sand, decorative materials ready mixed concrete, transport, HGV servicing and recovery services to the region.
